Participants in this Water Distribution Network Planning program will be in a position to specifically learn about the operation of a drinking water distribution network in relation to their design and implementation.
The content of the program is especially indicated for professionals who are interested in knowing the criteria, techniques and instrumentation for the correct design and dimensioning of the network, the methods of operation, the study of the pathologies that lead to its aging, the training required for the correct inspection, the advanced organization of the service and the systems of remote control and centralized operation.
The design phase of a supply network is especially relevant, since it determines the efficiency of the rest of the stages of the cycle (construction, operation, maintenance and repair). For this reason, planning must adequately consider various factors, such as the legal and regulatory framework to be complied with, economic limitations, long-term population projection and an estimate of consumption for the correct sizing of the networks and the choice of the most suitable materials in each case.
A correctly dimensioned network optimizes available resourcesThe system is designed to meet both water and economic needs and to respond to possible eventualities in its operation and in the supply of the demanded water flow under correct conditions of quality and pressure.
This credit presents the methodologies and techniques for the design of a supply network according to the conditions to which it will be exposed and according to the operation forecast, evaluating the effects that both extensions and modifications will have on it. The design and service regulations governing drinking water distribution networks will be presented. Finally, the necessary knowledge on which materials to use in these networks will be provided.
This credit presents the physical parameters that describe the hydraulic behavior of supply networks and provides the necessary knowledge to understand the operation of the main components of these networks. Next, the minimum mathematical tools for network sizing are provided, and the most commonly used software for the design of new elements is also explained.
