El Máster in Water Management (MWM) es un programa desarrollado por la Escuela del Agua y acreditado por la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), con el objetivo de preparar a profesionales de la compañía para la gestión del negocio en el mercado del agua y del medio ambiente en un entorno global y dinámico.

Se trata de un programa corporativo diseñado para que los participantes adquieran una visión global del negocio y para que desarrollen las competencias directivas necesarias para responder a los retos que presenta el complejo sector del agua y medio ambiente.

El MWM está centrado especialmente en el participante, en las competencias que va a tener que desarrollar y en el tipo de aprendizajes a adquirir para que al finalizar el programa sea capaz de vincular su trabajo a las estrategias globales de la compañía.

El programa da una visión global de la gestión del ciclo integral del agua y facilita las herramientas para poder dirigir y evaluar proyectos con criterios de optimización de calidad, tiempo y coste

La complejidad del actual entorno empresarial plantea nuevos retos para el sector del agua y medio ambiente que exige que los profesionales de la compañía amplíen su visión de la dirección y la planificación estratégica. En este sentido, el MWM facilitará elementos para la comprensión del actual entorno económico, de las tendencias y oportunidades del mercado del agua y de la necesidad de avanzar hacia un nuevo modelo de negocio.

BLOCK 1: TECHNICAL WATER MANAGEMENT

This block covers the entire water cycle, from the collection, purification and treatment of water collected from the natural environment, to its distribution and the collection of used water for its subsequent purification and return to the environment from which it was obtained in optimal conditions that do not harm the environment.

Regulatory and institutional framework. The urban water cycle and its management. Water resources. Hydrological planning. Calculation of resource availability and demand calculation and management. Climate change. Resilience. Drought plans and flood risk management plans. Ecological and social value of water. Water and sustainable development.

Groundwater collection and aquifer management. Surface water collection and treatment. Optimization of the management of available resources. Joint management of surface and groundwater. Advanced treatments. Marine and brackish water treatment. Legislation applicable to water for human consumption. Quality of resources and pollution. Water treatment by-products.

The supply network and its components (upstream and downstream network). Network planning, modeling and sizing: master plans. Network management: operation, maintenance, rehabilitation, efficiency, associated information systems, pressure control and management. Water quality in the distribution network. Irrigation networks.

The sanitation network and its different elements. Planning, modeling and sizing of networks: master plans. Advanced management of urban drainage: operation, cleaning, maintenance, rehabilitation, criteria of flow risk in streets. Environmental control in drainage systems: control of discharges to the sewerage system and to the receiving environment, control of discharges in rainy weather. Sanctioning regime. Sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS) and use of rainwater.

Wastewater treatment. Water line. Sludge line. Wastewater regeneration. Control of purification systems. Operation and maintenance of sanitation facilities. Asset management of hydraulic infrastructures.


BLOCK 2: STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT OF WATER COMPANIES

In this block we work on contents that will allow the participant to develop skills and acquire tools to critically evaluate the solutions to solve a specific problem, as well as the knowledge of business management.

Legal models of integral water cycle companies. Strategic analysis, opportunities and trends (digital business, big datacompany 4.0). Vision, planning and development of growth strategies. Control and performance indicators.

Analysis of the economic environment. Circular economy. Planning and control. Business economic-financial management. Analysis of financial statements. Financial accounting. Cost calculation and management. Budgeting process. Investment analysis and valuations. 

Commercial cycle of the service. The value of management and commercial processes. Identification and analysis of indicators. Economic management of the commercial cycle. Operational management of the commercial cycle. Customer service. User experience analysis and management.

Bases and methodology for integrated project management. Critical chain. Project management software. Project results management: from planning to completion. Social factors of projects. Projects and works of water facilities and infrastructures. The role of innovation in business strategy. Models and types of innovation. The process and management of innovation. Innovation in technology and water management.


AQUASEMINAR: "CHALLENGES AND LATEST TRENDS IN WATER AND ENVIRONMENT".

En formato de seminario especializado, ofrece una visión de alto nivel ante los nuevos paradigmas de gobernanza y gestión del agua y el medio ambiente. Se desarrolla en dos bloques presenciales:

  • Shift to new paradigms
  • Decision-making: from challenge to opportunity

FINAL DRAFT

At the end of the Master, the participant is able to link his work to the different fields of project planning and water cycle management from an integral point of view, through the elaboration of the Master's final project developed under the START-UP model. The project can also be an opportunity for participants to find solutions to real problems in their companies' activities.

Este máster cuenta con profesores del ámbito universitario e investigador, así como profesionales de empresa y perfiles directivos de la organización, que garantizan el sentido práctico y la aplicabilidad funcional de los contenidos tratados.

Impulsamos un aprendizaje activo basado en el conocimiento exhaustivo de las experiencias adquiridas y del desarrollo de las capacidades diferenciales de cada persona para formar profesionales con las habilidades que se requieren para formar parte de un sector creciente lleno de nuevos retos. Es, en definitiva, un equipo preparado para formar a nuevos líderes.

Calendario

The Máster in Water Management se distribuye en un total de:

  • 4 semanas presenciales (lunes a viernes) en Barcelona, destinadas a los bloques de Gestión Técnica del Agua y Gestión Estratégica de Empresas del Agua.
  • 2 encuentros entre semana de dos días cada uno (miércoles a jueves) destinados al bloque de Aquaseminar.
  • 18 videoclases (2 horas de duración) 
  • Presentación de proyectos ante el Tribunal de Evaluación.

Paralelamente, a lo largo de todo el programa, los participantes deberán realizar los créditos online de los diferentes módulos así como actividades, lecturas y participar en los diferentes foros y dinamizaciones a través del Campus Virtual de la Escuela del Agua.  La planificación para el desarrollo de éstas se irá indicando en los calendarios específicos del programa de cada fase. 

Qualification

Las personas que completen con éxito el programa y cumplan con los requisitos académicos necesarios obtendrán el título de Máster in Water Management expedido por la Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña.

Para la obtención del título de máster es necesario tener una titulación universitaria oficial o bien un título propio de universidad equivalente a un grado, diplomatura o licenciatura. De no ser así, se obtendrá un certificado de superación expedido por la Fundación Politécnica de Cataluña.
