Since its creation in 2012, this Agbar institution has established itself as an educational and talent development benchmark in the water and environment sector.

The Water School is Agbar's institution whose purpose is to contribute, through learning and the continuous development of talent as a generator of opportunities and social improvement, to the global concert for the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the celebration ceremony, which took place today at Agbar's Museu de les Aigües, Angel Simón, Chairman of Agbar, said: "Companies and organizations need expert knowledge and the best prepared talent to face present and future global challenges. Education, as a fundamental pillar for the progress of our society, has always been a defining element of our identity as a company and of our strategy. The creation of The Water School is one more step to reinforce this educational vector and we must continue to take additional steps to extend our training model to all our stakeholders".

In this sense, the Water School is heir to the activity that the Agbar group has been carrying out over the last 155 years, making available to society the knowledge, technical expertise, operational excellence and commitment to service to the communities where it is present.

Throughout this time, many advances have been nurturing the trajectory of the School: creating Master's and Postgraduate training programs recognized by professionals in the sector; promoting Dual vocational training in Spain and participating in the definition of specific training cycles in the sector; promoting the accreditation of professional skills; managing educational programs in schools and developing awareness campaigns for citizenship. Its vocation to offer a unique learning experience and have a global presence is materialized in a clear commitment since 2015 to online training, generating new content and formats such as MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) or more recently the new continuous and personalized learning platform NEREXA. In total, more than 25,000 students from 38 countries have followed the School's training courses.

Likewise, throughout these years the School has been growing and evolving in line with the transformation of our society and the needs of the market in terms of environmental education ─imperative in the face of climate change─ and digitalization, always with innovation as the basis and the promotion of strategic alliances and public-private collaboration.

10 years of the Master, a benchmark in the sector

The Water School's higher education and executive development programs are offered in collaboration with academic institutions of the highest prestige. Among them, the Master in Water Technology and Management, developed jointly with the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) since its inception, has become the reference program for professionals in the management of the water cycle, providing a comprehensive view of it and providing the skills for decision making, both from a technical and strategic point of view.

Management development to lead the green transition

In the field of executive education, the Postgraduate Program in Management Development in Sustainable Business is consolidating its position as an innovative and unique program in its approach. The third edition of this program, developed in collaboration with the Barcelona School of Management (UPF-BSM), will begin in November, providing executives with a deep understanding of the new context, characterized by the evident and accelerated change in the environment, and enabling them to promote business strategies and value propositions that contribute positively to the Global Agenda.

Professional qualification and dual training

To deepen its commitment to quality employment, the Water School, since its creation, has had as one of its main lines of activity the promotion of dual training, in collaboration with public institutes, municipalities and autonomous communities. Currently, dual programs in the water sector are taught with the direct collaboration of more than 20 companies of the group in 14 public centers in Catalonia, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Andalusia, the Canary Islands and the Valencian Community. This ten-year trajectory has already been recognized with the FPCat Award for good business practices in this field.

Looking to the future

Leveraging on its ten-year consolidated trajectory, the School projects itself as an institution at the service of all stakeholders, facilitating a global and open view of the world, developing expert talent and training new generations of professionals to achieve intelligent management of water and the environment and a change of mentality that guarantees a sustainable future for all. The Secretary of Enterprise and Competitiveness of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Albert Castellanos, participated in the celebration ceremony.
