Due to the growing demand for professionals responsible for envisioning and promoting the development of solutions that incorporate Artificial Intelligence in a wide range of products and services, Fundació ValGRAI, the University of Valencia (UV), the University Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering Research (IIAMA)-Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Hidraqua, CETAqua and Escuela del Agua join forces to present the new Specialization Course in Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Territories, oriented to deepen the knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and its potential application to projects, products and services that contribute to environmental improvement and management of territories that allow the achievement of the global agenda.

The program combines technical contents with transversal skills for the direction and management of projects related to artificial intelligence and its application in different fields.

The first edition of the program will start in November 2023 (limited places).

AIMED AT:

  • Department or business area management profiles.

  • Project portfolio management profiles, both in the public and private sectors.

  • Professionals with experience (2-5 years) in areas related to the management and development of digital solutions for the environment.

  • Digital profiles: project managers, product owners, business application technicians...

UPON FINISHING YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

  • Define and implement a strategy around artificial intelligence and the management of sustainable territories.

  • Develop solutions based on artificial intelligence and generate new use cases.

  • Define and lead the adoption of artificial intelligence in the context of sustainable territories.

  • Adapt to environments related to artificial intelligence, fostering teamwork, creativity, critical capacity and entrepreneurial spirit.

The Specialization Course in Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Territories is a program consisting of 10 ECTS credits (250 hours of dedication) distributed in 5 blocks:

Teachers

    GUSTAU CAMPS-VALLS

    Physicist and electronic engineer, researcher and professor at the University of Valencia.. Internationally recognized for his contributions in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, remote sensing and its applications to earth and climate sciences. He is the director of the Image & Signal Processing (ISP) research group, an interdisciplinary group focused on the development and application of artificial intelligence algorithms to model and understand complex systems such as the brain, the Earth, the climate and the interactions between the biosphere and the anthroposphere.

    ANA BELÉN RUESCAS ORIENT

    Physical geographer with extensive experience in remote sensing and data analysis in the thermal (land and sea surface temperature) and optical (ocean color) ranges. Expert in data analysis and statistics, remote sensing techniques for climate issues, oceanography applications and research and ocean color remote sensing applications.

    MANUEL PULIDO-VELÁZQUEZ

    Civil Engineer at the University of Granada. Professor and Professor of Hydraulic Engineering. Director of IIAMA and the Chair of Climate Change at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

    GUILLERMO PASCUAL

    Telecommunications Engineer and Director of Operations and Digital Transformation at Agbar. Previously, he was in charge of the international Environmental Quality Division worldwide, expanding the Air Quality and Analysis Technical Services business in LATAM, UK and China. With more than 20 years of experience in the water sector, he accelerates the digital transformation in Veolia Spain through the network of digital hubs Dinapsis to lead, together with the municipalities, the ecological transition to meet the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development of our territory.

    RAFAEL GIMENEZ ESTEBAN

    Software engineer and senior researcher. Team Leader of Cetaqua's 4.0 team, a research group working to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the water cycle through next generation Artificial Intelligence. Focused on bridging the gap between R&D and the market through AI and connecting strategy, data and technology across multiple data-driven domains, managing and aligning cross-functional cross-national teams.

Qualification

People who successfully complete the program and meet the necessary academic requirements will obtain the University Microcredential in Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Territories from the University of Valencia.

The final grade will depend on the evaluation made of:

  • One job per module (4 modules, 50%).
  • A final project (50%).

Attendance to the synchronous classes will not be mandatory. These classes will be recorded and published, so that any student will be able to access the content whenever he/she wants, in order to adapt to the schedule that best suits him/her.

The Specialization Course in Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Territories offers you the maximum flexibility to make it compatible with your professional and personal responsibilities.

The program's blended learning methodology combines synchronous videoconference sessions, which you can follow from anywhere in the world, with the autonomous development of online content that you will work on individually. The program ends with the development of a final group project.
