Peru's main challenges in terms of water management are to expand the sanitation coverage network in rural areas and improve the quality of water reaching households. The other major challenge is to strengthen drinking water and wastewater infrastructures, a task that requires large investments and the necessary private contribution.

The expert affirms that water is an essential commodity, which in the last year has gained importance and visibility due to the coronavirus pandemic. The solution to the sanitation crisis is precisely the use of water for hand washing and its availability in homes is key.

His time as a student at the Water School master's degree even though he already has extensive experience in the sector and is an established professional, it has helped him to continue training and specializing. It is currently helping him a lot in the process of using and translating what he has learned into Peru's national sanitation plan, which he is currently working on.
